According to ScreenGeek, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Aquaman”) has been signed to star in the new Marvel series, titled “Wonder Man,” which is in development at Disney+.
The actor will play Simon Williams, who becomes the titular hero.
It’s worth remembering that Ben Kingsley will be reprising his role as ham Trevor Slattery, who was originally introduced in “Iron Man 3” and later returned in “Shang-Chi.”
Destin Daniel Cretton, director of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, will helm the series alongside Andrew Guest.
In comics, Wonder Man appeared in the early 1960s, created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck. The main version of the hero is Simon Williams. He gains special powers, such as superhuman strength and durability, after allying with Baron Zemo to invade Avengers headquarters.
