Everything We Know About ‘Alchemy Of Souls’ Season 3

Alchemy of Souls is a South Korean series that spectators are loving lately. The storylines of the shows are quite intriguing. It is about a young fellow who is caught between heaven and earth. That’s surprising because we don’t often get to see narratives like this.

Alchemy of Souls has already premiered two seasons, which will conclude on January 8, 2023. This piques the attention of audiences regarding the continuation. The official storyline reads, “A powerful sorceress in a blind woman’s body encounters a man from a prestigious family, who wants her help to change his destiny.”

Is ‘Alchemy Of Souls’ Season 3 On The Cards?

The second season of Alchemy of Souls ended on a high note, with a massive number of viewers enjoying it. And there’s no doubt that it boosted the popularity even further. Being available on Netflix also increases its recognition.

And now about the series’ third season. Neither tvN nor Netflix has confirmed a new season of Alchemy of Souls Return. They didn’t even mention anything about the story’s continuation. This is not surprising given the series’ recent conclusion.

And renewing a show for a new season takes time. And especially a k-drama. There are different theories about whether or not the series will proceed. However, it will take at least a few weeks at the top to analyze the performance. And all that spectators can do is wait or watch the series on repeat. 

‘Alchemy Of Souls’ Season 3 Is Doubtful

It’s worth noting that, as stated previously, another season of k-drama is surprising because they are usually concluded with their first season. And the audience seemed to be surprised when Alchemy of Souls was renewed for a second season.

Season three is unlikely to happen. That could be because the series was always intended to be a 30-episode story, which has already been completed in the first two seasons. Because the story has concluded, another season is pretty doubtful.

Furthermore, for many audiences, the end of the second season would be an ideal way to conclude a story. But there’s always a possibility for another season. And the series’ ratings are rising, and because of the audience’s enthusiasm, it may be renewed for another season. 

The official response is now in the hands of the team of Alchemy Of Souls. It’s also worth noting that Park Hye-eun was originally cast as the series’ lead female character. She later backed out, with the agreement of the entire production team.

According to the team, she is a rookie actress who felt a lot of pressure playing the lead character in such a massive project. The role was then handed down to Jung So-min, who played it flawlessly.

The last episode of the second season reads, “Jin Ho-gyeong takes a risk to protect Jinyowon and its treasures from attack. Having had a glimpse into the future, the Uk braces for the inevitable.”

If There’s A Season 3 These Characters Might Return

There has been no announcement of a new season, but if one is confirmed, we may see the return of these characters. And the story will most likely continue in a different direction. Lee Jae-wook as Jang Uk may return in a new adventure alongside Jin Bu-yeon, Go Youn-jung, Hwang Min-hyun, Yoo In-soo, and Arin. 

Though Money Heist and Squid Game are both brilliant series, Alchemy of Souls is just joining the list. From January to December 22, 2022, the series comes in second, related to Our Blues, in the Netflix Korea TV show category. The series was also recognized and awarded. They hold awards in Asia Model Awards and Korean Drama Awards.

Lee Jae Wook Turned Down The Script Of Alchemy Of Souls

The series finale on January 8 garnered the highest rating since the first episode was released. Many viewers also stated that they preferred the second season over the first. The season also received a 9.7 percent average nationwide rating.

Lee Jae Wook stated to an outlet, “I feel that we concluded our one-year project well so I’m happy. I want to thank all the viewers who tuned in to ‘Alchemy of Souls.”

He then added, “I was flustered. As you know, it was an incredibly difficult set-up and the situations were novel so it was hard to imagine [the script]. It was a script with new spaces and settings. To be honest, I turned it down at first.

It was too difficult and I wondered whether I’d be able to pull this project off well. However, I think I came to do it solely out of my desire to take on a new challenge. From the actor’s perspective, I’m incredibly satisfied with the results. Also, isn’t this a drama you don’t know when you’ll encounter again? I’m counting on the fact that I concluded well.”
