What is the Vampire Skin and why did it go viral on TikTok? The inspiration seems to come from Twilight, the iconic cinematic saga that featured vampires glowing in contact with sunlight.
The anti-vampire skin isn’t just for Halloween, as TikTok proves. The latest beauty trend that has gone viral thanks to the most popular social network in recent years has a nod to Twilight. Do you know the film saga with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson? Edward and Bella’s love story bewitched the 2000s, and years after that chapter’s conclusion, the glistening skin shown on the big screen has returned to capture attention. Unsurprisingly, the new depopulated beauty trend on TikTok is called Vampire Skin and clearly references the sheer, shimmery skin shown in Twilight.

Likely due to the need to inspire Halloween-themed makeup, the vampire-effect skin is a clear homage to the Cullen family. It’s impossible to forget Edward exposed to the sun, which doesn’t burn (as is rather popular belief when it comes to vampires), but lights up as if a cascade of Swarovski had covered every inch of skin. But how does this new beauty trend materialize?
What is Twilight Inspired Vampire Skin
The first film in the fantasy saga based on the novels of the same name by Stephenie Meyer hit theaters in 2008. At the time, Bella Swan arrived in the dark town of Forks unaware of her fate. Not only would he have found love, but he would have discovered that there are creatures so far only told in legends. Vampires and werewolves are real and have been fighting each other for a long time. But the Cullens have decided not to feed on human blood and, despite what one might think, they don’t ignite when in contact with the sun, but they glow.

And that glowing skin has been accompanying the romantic aftertaste of Twilight for years and has become a TikTok beauty trend. Part of the credit goes to August Sombatkamrai, a makeup enthusiast who kickstarted the trend. The #vampireskin hashtag has racked up over 1.5 million views to date, dusting off that sparkling charm and love of glitter. After all, the secret to glowing skin is all contained here, in a cascade of glitter. So how do you make vampire proof skin?

August Sombatkamrai showed off the meticulous operation through tutorials that went viral. In a first clip, carefully mix a foundation with liquid glitter, then apply it on the skin. Then he moves on to powders, choosing an icy white shade sprinkled with glitter to apply to the cheekbones, forehead and nose using a brush.
