HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service launches EARLY in the US

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed some time ago that it intended to merge HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming into a new service.

Now, according to Deadline, the new platform will launch ahead of schedule.

According to WB President David Zaslav, the streaming service will launch in the United States in the spring of 2023 (that is, between the months of March and May). Previously, the platform was expected to debut between June and August next year.

Between September and November 2023, the change will begin to affect users in Latin America. In 2024, the new platform will arrive in Europe and Asia and, from there, in other territories.

The confirmation comes shortly after events like the cancellation of “Batgirl” and the removal of HBO Max original films from the platform’s catalog.

“In preparation for the eventual unification of HBO Max and Discovery+ programming on a single platform, we are constantly evaluating our offering to our consumers; and part of that process includes removing selected content,” the official statement read.

There are still no details on the exact day the merger will take place and what the impact on viewers will be.

In April of this year, the merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia was confirmed, forming Warner Bros. Discovery, directed by David Zaslav. At the time, sources claimed that the company’s new management was planning an overhaul of DC Entertainment.
