Stranger Things has reached its final season, but the Duffer Brothers, the show’s two directors, have released several advances. Here’s what you need to know.
Without a doubt, Stranger Things is one of the most beloved and followed series of recent years. First released on Netflix in 2016, it currently has four seasons and it has already been announced that the fifth will be the last. The series takes place in the 80s and tells the adventures of four little boys whose lives change forever when they discover the existence of the Upside Down, a supernatural and dangerous world. The group is joined by Undy, a little girl with telekinetic powers who escaped from a lab where she was treated like a guinea pig.

Soon, the series was a huge hit, becoming one of Netflix’s most popular. Fans are already saddened by the imminent end of the series after the announcement that there will be no renewal after the fifth season. As The Hollywood Reporter reports, creators Matt and Ross Duffer announced they were already working on the script and came up with an ending, which they already submitted to bosses in a meeting that lasted about two hours.

The Duffer brothers and Netflix are not ready to say goodbye to Stranger Things, the series which has brought them enormous success over the past five years and also made the fame of its protagonists, including Milly Bobby Brown (Eleven) and Finn Wolfhard (Mike), who were very young when they started working there.

As spoiled by the directors, the end will be poignant: at the end of the meeting, the room was full of people in tears. “We made our leaders cry, which I think was a good sign… The only other times I saw them cry was during budget meetings!
That the fifth season and, in general, the whole series can end with a heartbreaking and emotional ending does not seem so absurd, considering the poignant final episodes of the fourth. Spectators have indeed witnessed the death of much loved characters and there have been several cliff-hangers, each darker than the other. The Upside Down is now starting to contaminate the real world and we can deduce that during the last season Mike and his friends will have to fight.
