“Spider-Man: No Return Home” became the biggest box office of 2022 and in Sony Pictures history, surprising fans with the introduction of several characters from other franchises into its canon.
One of them was Venom 2, which was officially introduced to the MCU at the end of the movie. The character appears in a post-credits scene at a bar, where he and his symbiote alter ego reflect on Spider-Man’s existence.
And the scene in question, which belongs to ‘Venom 2: Time of Carnage’, was directed by Jon Watts himself, responsible for the making of ‘Spider-Man 3’.
The information was confirmed by screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna (via Comicbook.com). The creative duo even revealed that they are even considering adding Venom 2 to the movie’s big final battle.
In a recent interview with Variety magazine, Watts also reflected on the importance of revealing the connection between universes to fans:
“The idea is that the symbiote has knowledge of other universes. There is a certain amount of knowledge about this connection buried in your brain.
And with the positive backlash, it looks like Marvel and Sony have more plans for the heroes of the multiverse. In addition to rumors of Andrew Garfield returning in new films, FandomWire – which was one of the first sites to announce the return of the stars – has stated that Tobey Maguire will appear in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” .
