As we know, Salvini would like to become Minister of the Interior again, as already happened between 2018 and 2019, in the Conte I government. But Giorgia Meloni is anything but enthusiastic about such an idea. Among the representatives of the centre-right who are preparing to govern Italy, Meloni first, the hypothesis of Salvini at the Viminale is to be avoided. The Northern League could sow confusion, it is estimated, in the delicate balances sought to make the new government team authoritative, in particular at the international level, if necessary also by including technical ministers.

Doesn’t Meloni want Salvini in key roles?

“I don’t know” that there is a veto over Matteo Salvini’s arrival at the Viminale, FDI MP Fabio Rampelli said ahead of today’s party meeting. “Giorgia Meloni, when she judges him, will inform you,” he concluded, addressing journalists. “Controversy? He was referring to the current meeting via della Scrofa. “We will try with discipline and responsibility to get Italy out of the situations in which our citizens and businesses find themselves.” To those who asked him if the list of ministries indicated by the League was under discussion, Lollobrigida replied that “no, it is not the headquarters. Giorgia Meloni, in the event that President Mattarella has appointed her to form a government, will think in detail about the best people who can occupy positions of responsibility”.
