At the microphones of iNews24, the senator of Fratelli d’Italia Patrizio La Pietra.
The meeting of the executive of the Brothers of Italy in Rome has just ended. On the program, scenarios and determinations. What is the party line?
“A line of common sense and seriousness, which I believe will certainly lead to positive work. For the moment, there is nothing else to add”;
What air is blowing in the center-right on the division of ministries?
“I can give you an opinion on the suburbs and it seems to me a very serene and calm air. I don’t see any tension. It is clear that there is an ongoing debate but it is very balanced and common sense”;
Is there no nervousness? Is Salvini at the Viminale the only knot to solve?
“It is a knot that it is not for us to decipher. There are ongoing negotiations but I do not see a veto or tensions. There is an ongoing confrontation which will lead to finding solutions in the coming days. I don’t see any big problems or criticalities”;
Giorgia Meloni said the centre-right’s goal was to form the best government for Italians.
“It goes without saying and I think everyone’s goal is to find the best people who bring out the best in this difficult and critical situation. We’ll see what emerges in the coming days”;
Today, from Europe, the green light to cap oil prices has arrived. Is this a step forward in solving the energy emergency?
“The energy crisis is certainly one of the fundamental issues for the next government and it is clear that very intense work will have to be done. It is true that the oil price ceiling is an important reference. But it will be necessary to act immediately with immediate actions”;
For instance?
“For example by separating the cost of energy and gas. This is a common sense request. Currently, more or less 40% of electricity is produced with renewable energies and 60% with gas. But the cost of renewable energy is much lower. Prices must be rebalanced according to the real cost of production. This would immediately result in a bill collapse of around 30-40% and would be the first big step forward. We clearly need to act at European level and price caps are important. But we will also have to think about gas drilling in the Adriatic, other forms of renewable energy and the debureaucratization of procedures that prevent the construction of power plants in the short term. There is therefore important work to be done both immediately and in the long term”;
Forza Italia and Lega would like a government without technicians in the ministries. Is the hypothesis excluded?
“It seems to me an inappropriate debate. What will be born will be a political government that will be born from an agreement between the forces that constitute it because they have had the mandate of the Italian people. The choice of the personalities at the head of the ministries will in any case be a political choice. If the principle is to choose the most prepared people possible, choices will be made: but the government will not be technical”;
Is Putin’s nuclear threat real?
“I hope not. What is certain is that when there are situations like Russia’s where power, including war, is in the hands of one person, it is a risk. I hope that there will be common sense on the part of diplomacy, not only international but also Russian, to avoid this global disaster, which must be averted at all levels”;
Ukraine will not negotiate with Russia if Putin stays in power. How do you see this decision by Zelensky?
“I think that too is a stretch. Looks like they’re having a board game. It will be necessary to iron out positions and try to convince them both to go to the negotiating table to restore peace. It is clear that we must not forget who is the aggressor and who is the attacked and certain positions must be maintained. For example, an unconditional surrender of Ukraine is unthinkable. Similarly, one cannot expect not to deal with Putin. Each nation is sovereign and must elect its own leader and we must discuss this”.
