Is ‘Warrior Nun’ Season 3 Happening? Renewal Status Explored

The fantasy drama ‘Warrior Nun’ turned out to be even better than expected. After the second season, spectators are still curious about the story’s continuation. The plot revolves around a 19-year-old woman who awakens in a morgue.

Now that sounds horrifying. However, the entire story is quite engaging. A strange artifact is embedded in her back. She has a new life, but she has no idea what is in store for her. She is caught in a conflict between good and evil.

The official synopsis from Netflix reads, “After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.” Let’s delve deeper into the possibility of a third season.

‘Warrior Nun’ Season 3 Is Canceled By Netflix

We have received updates that Warrior Nun is not happening on Netflix and is officially canceled. There will be no third season, which is disappointing. The series’ creator officially confirmed the cancellation news to enthusiasts on Twitter.

Simon Barry penned, “I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love, you showed me, the cast, and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this.” You can check out the official tweet below.

However, Simon later stated, “I’m still in the fight. #SaveWarriorNun.” That means they are still attempting another season.

Simon said, “Unfortunately, at the beginning of season two’s filming, Toya had to leave the show for personal reasons. We had to very quickly retool the show to accommodate that. […] It was a very challenging puzzle. But we figured it out in a way that I think honors Shotgun Mary’s character and also sets up the new characters that emerge in season two. I’m hoping it plays out well.

It’s always awkward when it’s not the plan, right? We did not plan this, but we had to sort of adjust on the fly.

We didn’t want to recast her because I think it’s too iconic a character. What we had to do is figure out a way to tie in what had happened at the end of season 1 that didn’t feel too clunky and didn’t feel too slapped on.”

The Team Of ‘Warrior Nun’ Wanted More Seasons

Simon also mentioned long back for having multiple seasons before the announcement. Simon said, “With Warrior Nun, I would give it a window because we’re still so early in the process of developing it. Anything between five and seven seasons would be lovely.”

Alba Baptista also tweeted, “Working on Warrior Nun was a very special chapter of my life. Thank you to the cast and crew for giving everything they had. Thank you to the fans that loved and supported us. I see you and I love you. It was all for you. I’m forever grateful.”

Kristina Tonteri-Young also tweeted, “Thanks everyone for having me in your space it was a pleasure to hear your voices xx.”

Warrior Nun Season 3 Has Been Planned Before

The creator did mention that the third season was discussed in the writer’s room. And they had an idea of what season three could be and how it might look.

Barry revealed, “I mean, we did discuss [season three] in the writer’s room. Of course, when you end a season as writers, you always want to make sure that you’ve not written yourself into a corner.

And yes, we did have a notion about what season three could be and how that would look. But of course, it’s up to the fans. If they show up in big numbers. Netflix will make the right decision. And so hopefully, that’s what will happen.”

Warrior Nun Is Coming Back As A Trilogy

Wait! It’s not over yet. We have another exciting update for you. Though the Warrior Nun series is canceled, we’re getting a trilogy! The series is returning to Netflix. The executive producer Dean English confirmed the comeback.

He said, “I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.

It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing forward to make these stories. You guys really make it all worthwhile. So thank you so much for your continued support.”

He continued, “Some may ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?’ The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.”

Netflix heard the audience after the cancellation. Now we will get to see more exciting things in the coming days. The trilogy is going to be beyond amazing.
