The Walking Dead, one of the best post-apocalyptic horror series, has come to its conclusion. And that definitely surprises the spectators. This amazing series has drawn a significant number of enthusiasts that absolutely like the storyline.

Now there’s a lot of disappointment knowing that this 11-season masterpiece would not have more seasons. There could be more stories and challenges to cover but the cancelation is puzzling for the spectators. In fact, the final season has also received positive reviews from the audience.

But we are here to address the concern of the spectators regarding the ending of the series along with a reason. We have seen character development from the beginning till the end. And it’s been a remarkable journey.

A lot of situations arise for the team but they tackled them together defeating both enemies and obviously zombies. Now let’s dive in-depth regarding the cancelation of the series. And if it’s ever planning to return.

The Walking Dead Season 12 Is Not On The Cards

The Walking Dead’s final season is titled ‘The Final Season Trilogy,’ and the streaming platform has already confirmed it to be the end. There will be no more episodes, but the team did address a number of concerns raised by the audience.

Scott Gimple explained, “We have a lot of thrilling stories left to tell on TWD, and then, this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead — brand-new stories and characters, familiar faces and places, new voices, and new mythologies. This will be a grand finale that will lead to new premieres. Evolution is upon us. The Walking Dead lives.”

Based on the team’s statements it looks like there has been an agreement and a proper conclusion from their perspective. And that AMC didn’t cancel the horror series. But there’s more to it.

The Team Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Were Surprised By The News

Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that Gimple & showrunner Angela Kang was surprised by the discontinuation of the series.

Morgan who portrayed Negan said, “The news, when we got it in the middle of the pandemic, was a complete surprise, not only to me and the rest of the actors but to everybody involved in the show from production. Scott Gimple and Angela Kang had no idea either.

It came from nowhere and there was such a huge pivot. I think they had Season 11 all mapped out, where they were going to go, and suddenly it became, ‘We also have to close the story, in a way.’ It took everybody by surprise, so it was a massive pivot.

And then, they threw in the six tacked-on episodes to season 10, and instead of doing 16, we’re going to do 24 more. There was a lot of stuff to wrap our heads around.”

Reason Behind The Discontinuation Of TWD

The main reason for the series’ discontinuation would be the lack of content. Since 11 seasons, a lot has been displayed but the departure of Rick from the series has also impacted the show. Though the series continued and spectators watched it in the hope of getting Rick back, that didn’t happen. This sudden departure and the break of Daryl & Rick’s bond have impacted the show in some way or another.

Will The Story Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Ever Continue?

There’s always more. It’s obviously upsetting knowing the series came to its conclusion but fortunately, there are spin-offs to look after. And it’s not a surprise because popular shows always get spin-offs and TWD is no exception in this case.

If you miss watching the series then you should definitely catch up on ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’. It’s a spin-off series focused on Maggie & Negan. We all have seen their clash in the original series and this spin-off is scheduled to release by April 2023 and will consist of a total of 6 episodes.

The official story reads, “Dead City envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

But that’s not the only spin-off. Fear the Walking Dead and Tales of the Walking Dead are also must-see shows.

Rick & Michonne’s Love Story Is Awaiting

The great news is that there will be another spin-off centered on Rick and Michonne’s romance. Gurira did make a brief mention of it being an ‘epic love story’ of all time.

The star said, “It’s definitely an epic love story. It’s very much rooted in the world we know of, and then and then another world that we don’t know yet.

I think it’s going to be it has all the makings of the things that have always made the Walking Dead really great viewing so, you know, in terms of these characters, and this very particular world and the action that this world insists upon, in order to survive it.

And simultaneously, it’s, you know, deeply intimate and really hones in on an intimate story. So yeah, I think it’ll be very satisfying. I hope so.”

Though there are a lot of spin-off shows to watch, the original will always be a masterpiece. You’re welcome to drop your opinions on the discontinuation of the show in the comment section below. And stay tuned with us for more updates like this.
