According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is developing an adaptation of “Fairy Tale,” based on Stephen King’s latest book.
Paul Greengrass (“The Bourne Supremacy”) will direct.
The site claims the project had attracted interest from several studios and streaming services, but filmmaker Greengrass’ good relationship with Universal was instrumental in securing the deal.
Greengrass will also write the script and serve as a producer on the film.

The project does not yet have distributor involvement, but the site says “competition must be fierce between studios and streaming services, which seek intellectual properties that can have broad global appeal – especially in the hands of a talented director like Greengrass”. .
Of the adaptation, King said, “I’m a huge fan of Paul Greengrass, and I think he was an amazing choice for this movie.”
