Events Night of the Candles 2022 Sweden and Puglia: appointments

Here is the new edition of the Night of the Candles which this year offers a new cultural event in which Puglia meets Sweden. The concept crosses national borders in the Puglia meets Sweden initiative with a series of meetings over the course of two whole months.

The 2022 edition of the Night of Candles starts on November 16 from Stockholm. The first appointment of the cultural event will be held in the Swedish capital to seal the concept of this year: Puglia meets Sweden, or Puglia meets Sweden.

The objective of this cultural event is to highlight the common roots of European culture. In this case, this intention is realized by trying to draw a direct line between Puglia and Sweden. This through the exchange of uses and customs, linked to the date of December 13 and to the cult of light which are identified with the feast of Saint Lucia.

The common roots between Puglia and Sweden in the Night of Candles 2022

The program for the 2022 edition of the Notte delle Candele is created to facilitate and present a cultural and gastronomic exchange between Puglia and Sweden. The appointments of the event are divided into two phases, the first from November 16 to 18 in Sweden, a three-day event called Pugliese Week in Sweden. And the fair will then continue until January 17, 2023 in Puglia. The first part of the event is characterized by a series of events and experiences in the name of accessibility and design for all. Here, attention will be paid above all to families and children, but also to blind or visually impaired people, for whom various activities will be planned.

The first phase of the winter event begins today, Wednesday November 16, in Stockholm. Here, Apulian cuisine and agri-food products will be the protagonists of the scheduled events. Proposals for blind tastings of wines and oils and cooking workshops; these will be accompanied by guided tours and classical music concerts and a gala dinner made in Puglia.

The events of Puglia Week in Sweden are part of the VII Italian Food Week in the World
organized by the Italian Embassy and the IICCM Lerici in Stockholm. It starts with the cooking workshop, for children from 6 to 11 years old, Light up the Winter, which consists of preparing the typical sweets of Puglia from Santa Lucia. Again on November 16, it will be possible to attend the Dance of the Candles: Puglia meets Sweden, in the main places of the city of Stockholm aimed at promoting the events of the review.

In detail, the Dance of the Candles is a contemporary dance performance created specifically for the notice inPuglia365 – Culture, Nature, Taste of the Puglia Regional Tourism Agencypromozione. As specified in the launch note of the Notte delle Candele 2022, from 2018, in fact, this dance has become the privileged guerrilla marketing tool for the promotional actions of the magazine Notte della Candele, linked to the celebrations of Santa Lucia in Puglia and Italy. In this edition, four dancers, two from Puglia and two from Sweden, with an international artistic profile, will lead the public to the notes of Spring 1, Max Richter’s reinterpretation of Vivaldi’s Primavera. Electric candles will be the only accessory. The show will take place in the main places of Stockholm, including metro stations, museums, characteristic corners and squares of the Swedish capital, where particular messages related to the review and promotion of the scheduled events will be broadcast.
