In an interview with GQ magazine (via Variety), Zoë Kravitz delivered some bad news to fans of “Big Little Lies” when she announced that the series was well and truly over following the death of director and executive producer Jean- Marc Vallee (‘Club of Dallas Purchasing’).
“I don’t think so. We’ve talked a lot about doing a third season. Sadly Jean-Marc Vallée, our amazing director, passed away last year. It’s heartbreaking. I can’t imagine going on without him. He was really the visionary of this show. Sadly, it’s over,” Kravitz said when answering a fan’s question about the chances of a return for “Big Little Lies.”
Recalling that Vallée died in December 2021 after suffering a heart attack in his cabin on the outskirts of Quebec. , Canada. The filmmaker was then only 58 years old.
The filmmaker directed all seven episodes of the original “Big Little Lies” and remained creatively involved after Andrea Arnold took over as director of the show’s second season.
Note that his work on the first season of the HBO series earned the director an Emmy.
