In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, creator Don Mancini, who brought the great series “Chucky” to life, revealed that the production was based on a TV classic: “Hannibal”.
As Mancini explained, “Hannibal” reimagined iconic characters from the entertainment scene, leading him to think about the potential of television itself to build narratives.
“’Hannibal’ was an established literary and film franchise that has now dominated television, but with a very specific vision that [o criador] Bryan Fuller did it, ”he says. “When I worked on the show, one of the things that really got me excited was that it sounded like fanfiction made by experts. If you’re a fan of something like that, like me, you spend time fantasizing about everything. How would Hannibal be in practice? How would it work to be a patient of Hannibal Lecter? I think that was a fundamental draw of the show.
He continues, “I realized that if I wanted to do the same with my franchise, we could create something amazing. Because Bryan did it to ‘Hannibal’. It was the initial inspiration to bring ‘Chucky’ to television when I worked on ‘Hannibal’.
Remember that the second season will be released in 2022.
