“Shazam! 2: Fury of the Gods didn’t hit theaters around the world until 2023, but the details of the sequel are coming to life by the day.
In a recent interview with the Popculture website, Zachary Levi, who is reprising his role as the main character, said that the feature film will fully showcase the hero’s powers.
“You saw all of my powers basically in the first movie,” he revealed. “You will see it all – and you will see it in abundance. We had a great time in the new [longa]. We had more time, more budget. The entire cast is back. Everyone is more attached to the character. It was fun. It was unbelievable. I am very excited”.
In another interview, this time with Collider, the star shared her excitement for the sequel and seems as anxious as the audience, even wishing the title would release sooner than expected:
“I say with more enthusiasm – and it’s not half-heartedly, I just feel like I’m talking – that I’m very proud of the first one, I think we made a very, very good movie. But the second one. is even better. We had more time, more budget and the whole cast was coming back, and we all knew our characters a little bit more; we got to dig into them, you know? Henry Gayden, who wrote the first screenplay, also wrote the second, and it did a fantastic job.
He continued:
Enjoy watching:
“I want it to be released before June 2023. There are a lot of positive changes and I want to hear the public reaction right away. Even the kids are more mature, they’ve grown up, man. Now they understand a little more what their elders think, so there is a much bigger connection.
Finally, he praised some plot elements and additions to the cast:
“This movie has twice the action and comedy, the chemistry between us is on another level. And now we have the villains Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, they look fantastic. I take great pride in the work. that we have accomplished.
So, will the actor’s call convince Warner Bros. to move the debut forward?
Along with Levi’s return to the lead role and the introduction of Mirren and Liu, the cast includes Adam Brody, Asher Angel, and Jack Dylan Grazer.
Henry Gayden returns as screenwriter, while David F. Sandberg takes over the director’s chair. Peter Safran joins as a producer.
The original film received critical acclaim (reaching 90% approval on the Rotten Tomatoes website), in addition to grossing over $ 365 million at the global box office.
