With 15 reviews published to date, “The Cabinet of Curiosities,” a horror anthology series created by Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”), has earned a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The general consensus is that the series delivers chilling stories, with deep messages and a fantastic visual spectacle worthy of a Guillermo del Toro production.

We separate the excerpts from the main criticisms:

“This horror anthology exudes an alluring air of mystery, with a few flaws, but it delivers a production full of energy.” (Slant Magazine)

Have fun watching:

“This production reverses Guillermo del Toro’s tendency to find deep metaphors in familiar narratives. Here, one crosses the dimensions only to find relatively simple moral lessons. (Variety)

“Guillermo del Toro manages to create a coherent and well-constructed anthology. Its thematic engagement transforms this production into a vintage collection of scary stories. (Disgusting blood)

“Horror fans looking for a few pre-Halloween scares won’t be disappointed, but the experience shouldn’t stick in their minds for long.” (San Francisco Chronicle)

“In an age of cinematic universes where everything has to be tediously explained, it’s great to see a show that trusts its viewers to understand its message.” (The edge)

“Hopefully Guillermo del Toro and Netflix don’t take four years to release new episodes – and maybe they’ll be less Lovecraftian in the next cycle.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

The production is now available on the Netflix streaming service.
