Maria Callas, what to expect from the biopic with Angelina Jolie

After a stormy period, Angelina Jolie will return to the camera and take on the role of Maria Callas. It will be directed by Pablo Larraín, who will continue the path taken with the divas of the past, first with Jackie Kennedy and last year with Lady Diana, in Spencer. Here’s what to expect.

Despite the hard-fought divorce with Brad Pitt, in fact, the interpreter joined the MCU as Thena in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals. In recent months he has also started filming as director of Without Blood, based on the novel of the same name by Alessandro Baricco. Now, the Oscar-winning actress is ready to return to the camera, in the role of the eternal diva of opera singing: Maria Callas. The Californian actress will be directed by Pablo Larraín, who has chosen to collaborate again with Steven Knight, with whom she wrote the script for Spencer.

The artistic career of Pablo Larraín, in search of the hidden and more intimate side of the great divas of the 20th century, is enriched by another figure: that of Maria Callas. This introspective research and, in some respects, dreamlike and magical – especially with regard to Lady D in Spencer by Kristen Stewart – which has become her stylistic signature, will also invest the world star of opera of Greek origin, interpreted by Angelina Pretty.
