“King’s Man – The Origin”: the first reactions qualify the film as “bizarre” and “forgettable”

“King’s Man Inception,” a pre-sequel to the acclaimed action franchise, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year – but it looks like all the anticipation wasn’t worth it and s’ turned out to be a disappointment.

On social media, early reactions from critics indicate the feature film is “weird,” “forgettable” and “bad,” challenging Vaughn’s script and directing and commenting that the title does not enrich the franchise’s mythology .

THE KING’S MAN is… weird. Tonally, it’s the craziest movie I’ve seen this year, it’s both serious and completely, totally silly. There’s also a deeply unsettling plot that the more I think about it, the more I hate. But Rasputin has superpowers, I guess?

I was not a fan of The King’s Man. I love the first two films and Vaughn’s work in general, but this prequel doesn’t particularly enrich that mythology. “I’m not a ‘King’s Man’ fan. The first two films and Vaughn’s work work, but the pre-sequence doesn’t enrich the mythology. The action is fun when it does, but there’s not much screen and the story is rambling. I forgot the movie by the time it ended.

“‘King’s Man’ looks like two movies in one, ‘1917’ covered with a ‘Kingsman’ shell. The script looks like a bunch of two scripts put together. When there’s action, it’s done well, but the villain implications are messed up (to be nice).

Although the new movie takes place long before the events of “Kingsman – Secret Service”, Vaughn revealed to Empire that the prequel will be linked to the events of “Kingsman 3”.

“Throughout the storyline of ‘King’s Man – The Origin’ we are planting the seeds and provoking what will happen in ‘Kingsman 3’. it’s gonna be something very different [dos outros filmes], but it will be of great importance for the future of the franchise.

Sadly, the filmmaker hasn’t revealed much about the plans surrounding the two films, but it’s possible that a secret revealed in the pre-sequel could be central to the third installment of the main franchise.
