NBC officially canceled the musical “Zoey and her Fantastic Playlist” (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) after just two seasons.
Streaming service Peacock was in talks to renew production for a final eight-episode season, but discussions failed to reach a consensus.
Lionsgate, the studio behind the series, plans to sell the production to other channels and streaming services. And the rumors indicate an interest in other platforms.
Regarding the cancellation, series showrunner Austin Winsberg said, “I refuse to believe the series is dead. There is a lot of love and goodwill involved, and our fans are amazing. Here’s what we need: I think we have a good chance of finding a new home, but the more support we have the better. Please tweet about #saveZoeysplaylist.
The second season recorded an average of 0.35 in the demo and a total of 1.8 million viewers, which is one of the worst audiences on the chain.
