Last month the first official teaser for “Woman-Hulk,” a new Marvel Cinematic Universe series starring Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), was released.
While the preview hints at Jennifer Walters’ already transformed look, some fans are wondering if the heroine will be performed with practical or digital effects.
And, during an interview for the Scott Hasn’t Seen podcast (via The Direct), Maslany was asked the same question.
In response, she revealed that the character will be 100% CGI created, just like Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.
“It’s all CGI (computer generated images)… I wore a motion capture suit the whole time. I’m wearing wedge heels and a motion capture suit. They even put a fictional head over my own head so we could get a feel for its height. “
Considering that Maslany is only six feet tall, this was the best alternative the team found to make the character taller and more muscular without having to resort to a double.

– CinePOP (@cinepop) November 28, 2022
Remember that the start of production is not expected until 2023.
The cast also includes Ginger Gonzaga, Renee Elise Goldsberry, and Josh Segarra. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion will be making appearances in the production.
Recalling that Kevin Feige, Creative Director of Marvel Studios, said the series will have 10 episodes of approximately 30 minutes each.
Kat Coiro and Anu Valia enter as directors of the series.
The story centers on lawyer Jennifer Walters, cousin of Bruce Banner who receives a blood transfusion from the Hulk after being caught between life and death after being shot by bandits. Because of this, she ends up undergoing a transformation, becoming the Woman-Hulk. Unlike her cousin, she manages to keep control of her mind, but her human appearance disappears for good.
Over the years, she has become a highly respected heroine and has been a part of the “Avengers”, “Defenders” and even “Fantastic Four“.
Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, she was introduced to Marvel comics in “The Savage She-Hulk” # 1, published in 1980.
Jessica Gao coordinates the editorial team.
According to The Direct site, the series will bring to life a very interesting and peculiar aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: The Breaking of the Fourth Wall.
Reports indicate that there will be “several times” Jennifer Walters / Woman-Hulk (Maslany) will address the public directly. Additionally, it is believed that Jennifer will know that she is a character within the MCU.
It’s worth remembering that despite the similarities to ‘Deadpool‘ (which uses the same resource in the movies and in the comics), Woman-Hulk is no stranger to breaking the Fourth Wall, as she did in The Sensational by John Byrne. She-Hulk comics, in which he constantly laughed at the heroes and reminded them that “they weren’t real.”
