‘What If…?’: Season 2 Features Cate Blanchett as Hela

“Thor: Ragnarok” introduced Cate Blanchett to the MCU, bringing to life Hela, the goddess of death and half-sister of Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

The outcome of the plot hinted that Hela met her end at the hands of Surtur, also triggering the destruction of Asgard, as in the Ragnarok prophecy.

But, according to Heroic Hollywood, Blanchett will reprise the role in Season 2 of “What If…?”, the Disney Plus-produced MCU animated anthology.

The information was revealed by director Bryan Andrews during Marvel’s panel at LightBox Expo 2022.

But given the animation’s creative storytelling, anything could happen, as Season 1 brought completely different perspectives on the MCU’s main characters through their alternate versions of the multiverse…

Over the episodes, we’ve seen Peggy Carter take the Super-Soldier Serum in place of Steve Rogers, Killmonger as one of Tony Stark’s bodyguards, and Hank Pym as a dangerous assassin after members of the Avengers.

And it looks like Season 2 will feature even crazier storylines.

Previously, Andrews spoke to Deadline about what audiences can expect from upcoming episodes, to which he responded:

“Obviously you can expect more original stories and slowly moving into wilder terrain. In Season 1, Kevin wanted to keep the story a bit closer to what was established in the movies, with something something or other different, but still resonating with the plot of the movies. That doesn’t happen often in Season 2.”

Since so many movies have already been released between Phases 3 and 4 of the MCU, Andrews also said the possibilities for playing around with alternate ideas are endless.

“There are a lot more films to explore and things to draw inspiration from, so we don’t need to have just a little while. We can grow and things can get a little crazier. We’ve increased the level of madness in Season 2 and Season 3 promises much more.We now have characters we haven’t had the chance to work with before, and it will be fun to see how they are introduced to audience favorites. I can’t wait for the fans to watch it.

Remembering that ‘What if…?’ has already been renewed for Season 3, and Disney+ revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that Season 2 will be released next year.

The next cycle teaser was shown at the event and featured scenes with the return of Captain Carter and Steve Rogers with the HYDRA Stomper, as well as the addition of Valkyrie, Korg, Hela, Shang-Chi, Scarlet Witch and several other characters. .
