Free Now, Europe’s super mobility app, after reviewing tens of millions of journeys made across Europe, has compiled the list of the most common and weirdest items left behind in taxis or private hire vehicles and the ranking of Europe’s most forgotten cities.
The most forgotten objects: the ranking
This year alone, users of the mobility app forgot more than 23,000 items while traveling. Marseille tops the list of the ten most distracted cities in Europe, however, Spain is the European country with the highest number of items claimed, with a total of 2,212 items left behind in Spanish vehicles, followed by Germany. On the other hand, in the United Kingdom, the citizens of London and Edinburgh turn out to be the most attentive and the most disciplined, with a lower propensity to forget personal objects and possessions during their journey. In general, Europeans are more careless on weekends between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and fall back into error at the start of a new week, especially on Monday morning around 11 a.m.
The situation in Italy
As for Italy, however, the most forgotten city turns out to be Turin, which takes sixth place overall, followed by Rome, Palermo and Naples, in nineteenth, thirtieth and thirty-seventh place respectively. Some of the most forgotten, lost and recovered items are truly exceptional. We find for example a wedding dress, an urn containing the ashes of a loved one, a bag full of sex toys and even three live lizards. Most of the time, however, people tend to lose their mobile phones, followed by wallets with documents, handbags, but also jackets, glasses, earphones, suitcases, jewelry, umbrellas and shopping bags.
