On November 23, the brand new series Wednesday will be released on Netflix, which will feature the very famous daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams. Filmed by Tim Burton, it will have eight episodes and will focus on the life of the young girl, a student at Nevermore Academy. We had the chance to see it in full preview: here is the review.
Jenna Ortega in Wednesday – Solocine.it
In this new adaptation of The Addams Family, Wednesday is no longer a child, but a sarcastic, sadistic and brooding teenager attending high school. The series is an investigative thriller and sees the protagonist attempt to uncover the truth behind a series of murders that terrorizes the town and to solve a mystery that plagued his parents twenty-five years earlier. In the meantime, he tries to learn how to control his paranormal powers and manage his teenage life, forming new relationships with his peers.
The protagonist will be played by Jenna Ortega (Scream, You) who explained that hers is a brand new Wednesday, different from the previous ones (the most iconic is certainly that of Christina Ricci in the saga of the 90s).
Wednesday, the video review of Tim Burton’s new series
Below we share the video review from MADROG Cinema friends who watched some episodes of the series and tell us what they think about it without spoilers. Good view.
Jenna Ortega herself declared herself satisfied with this new Wednesday. “In the past, when Wednesday came on the scene, whether it was just for a joke or she was the butt of a joke, it was always masterful and that’s what people love about her. But in this series, he is at the heart of the action. We have the opportunity to give him more depth and in this way he becomes a more real person”.
The series features great actors such as Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Luis Guzmàn as Gomez. Rounding out the cast are Hunter Doohan, Jamie McShane, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emma Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday and Percy Hynes White. The special guest will be Christina Ricci, who will play the role of a new character, Marilyn Thornhill.
On the occasion of Lucca Comics & Games 2022, director Tim Burton also indulged in a few statements about his new television series, saying that he reflected a lot in his protagonist. “I identify with Wednesday. For me, it is a source of inspiration. She is very clear, direct, she says what she feels. It gets her into trouble with other people, but symbolically she has a quiet, simple strength that is close to my heart.”
