In an interview with the portal, Wingard celebrated the news by saying:
“’Thundercats’ is a dream project of mine. When I was in high school, I was obsessed with them. I want to make a film that takes us back to the aesthetic of the 80s. I don’t want to reinvent how they look. I want them to look like the characters we know. I don’t want to do live action either. I don’t want to make the same mistake that happened to ‘Cats’.
