Actress Tessa Thompson spoke to Renato Marafon about Valkyrie’s return in “Thor: Love and Thunder” and talked about the importance of having representation in theaters.
In addition to being the King of Asgard, the character is openly bisexual in the film.
“It’s really exciting to do this, and I see it means a lot to so many people from what I’m hearing from fans about how Valkyrie has helped them have difficult conversations with their family and how they felt inspired to be more authentic. And that means a lot to me. It’s encouraging that there’s been so much discussion about how to portray queer characters in movies. I think the best way is to let them the full extent of their humanity. I love that with Valkyrie you can tell that’s just part of her as a human… Well, she’s not human, but a superhuman “Sexuality isn’t everything. I’m really excited to see where it goes, especially with representation in this next phase of the MCU.”
