According to Bloody Disgusting, Rachel Shenton, winner of the Oscar for best screenplay for the short film ‘The Silent Child’, has joined the cast of the remake of ‘The Strangers’.
The actress will play Debbie, the sister of Madelaine Petsch’s character.
Petsch (“Riverdale”) and Froy Gutierrez (“Teen Wolf”) star in the production. The cast also includes Ema Horvath and Gabe Basso.
In the plot…
Petsch travels to the countryside with her boyfriend (Gutierrez) to start a new life. When their car breaks down, the couple are forced to spend the night in an isolated Airbnb house, where the couple are terrorized until dawn by three masked strangers.

The screenplay is signed by the duo Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.
“When we started developing ‘The Strangers’ remake, we felt we needed to tell a bigger story that could be as tense as the original film and really expand that universe,” explained executive producer Courtney Solomon. “Filming this story as a trilogy will allow us to really explore these characters. We are fortunate to have Madelaine Petsch, a talented young woman whose character will be very important in this journey.
In 2018, the sequel “The Strangers: The Night Hunt” was released, grossing just $31 million at the global box office. Although having divided the opinion of the critics at the time (only 40% of approval on RT), the production gained a little recognition over the years, securing a small fanbase for the production.
