“The Spectacular Spider-Man” turns 9 today, 3, and it was revealed that Andrew Garfield didn’t give up so easily as Peter Parker.
According to a report from The Daily Beast, the actor had negotiations with Marvel to continue as the superhero but was fired by the studio.
The reason? It “wouldn’t make sense” to keep the actor in the franchise due to the creative directions the studio took when they decided to reintroduce the hero in a younger version and still in high school.
The information contradicts rumors that Garfield himself has asked to leave the franchise after the agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures to divide the rights of the character, which resulted in the cancellation of “The Spectacular Spider-Man. 3 “.
In an email sent in 2012 that disclosed the big Sony “leak”, Marvel chairman Alan Fine explained to Tom Cohen (Marvel vice president of production, who serves as a go-between between them and Sony) all issues related to the sequence:
“I wanted to burn the script right after reading it,” he says.
Fine makes a list of mistakes the script made that ended up in the movie.

“This story is too dark, too depressing… I think it’s potentially too dangerous to undermine the important events of the first Spider-Man trilogy… I think it’s a mistake to deny the original trilogy in the canon of the character’s cinematic universe. What do you say to the public? That the original trilogy was a mistake, that it was a total hoax? Are we lying to the fans? Why will the public believe in the world we have created now? He said.
Fine also complains about the excess of villains, as that’s what ended up undermining the third “Spider-Man,” directed by Sam Raimi.
“Three bad guys? Leave me alone! I didn’t understand Electro’s hatred for Spider-Man. He feels fabricated, practical, undeserved. Why do we always have to witness the creation of the villain from scratch and come up with various reasons why he should hate the world and Spider-Man in particular? Why can’t there be some threats in the world and the hero will defend it? And this need to connect with the Spider’s past? In any case, certain rules must be developed in all of Electro’s powers. He seems to be able to do whatever he needs to do, when he needs to. Says the president of Marvel.
