Charlie Vickers says that to play Sauron in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ he was inspired by ‘The Boys’ most scrotum character, Homeland.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Vickers confessed to being a huge fan of the Amazon Prime series and said that Antony Starr’s work on the series as Homelander influenced his stance on Sauron.
The actor opened up about how difficult it was to create the villain’s mannerisms, as it was never exactly translated into live action, not even in the classic Peter Jackson trilogy.
“There are (mean) performances throughout history and then recent performances that I love. I think as an actor I’m always looking for inspiration.”

“I watch documentaries. There’s a documentary about tyrants that I watched, which was interesting, but it was more for psychology, it helped me build the psychology behind someone who wants to rule and be a dictator. But yeah, I’ve read a lot of Tolkien material.
He ended by saying, “I’m also a big fan of The Boys, the TV series, and I’ve seen a lot of De Anthony Star as Homelander, and I don’t know if, I just think it’s that he delivers a masterful portrayal of the character, and it’s amazing, and I was really inspired to see him work.
Recall that the complete season of ‘The Rings of Power’ is now available on Prime Video.
