‘The Rig’ Cast Absolutely Liked Filming

The cast of the series spoke to multiple outlets before and after the series’ release about how much they enjoyed filming it.

Martin Compston the star of the series said before, “When I spoke to [director John Strickland] about it, it was the scale of the thing that I found exciting. It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever worked on in terms of the ambition of it.”

He also made a statement to an outlet regarding a scene in the series. “It was a funny thing. At first, I thought it was amazing, I was on fire and I couldn’t feel a thing, and then all of a sudden it’s getting a wee bit hot which was apparently not supposed to happen but I kept going because nobody said cut and you just assume everything’s going to be okay.

As soon as they realized something was up, they came over with the blankets and fire extinguishers. I was alright, my back got a bit of a tan, but what other job in the world would you be able to do that? I still had to do another take.”

Rochenda Sandall also said, “The detail was incredible, the scale of them was insane. You’re talking about opening the rig doors and the real weight was there, you’re pushing and pulling real things.

Little specs of rust were individually painted on and there was bird poo on the satellite dishes. The work the art department did was insane – something I have never seen on that scale before.”

‘The Rig’ Is The First Prime Video Project To Be Entirely Filmed In Scotland

Iain Glen also informed one of the outlets that The Rig is a standout series that has been shot entirely in the stunning location of Scotland.

“You care in a slightly different way because you’re portraying your people, your country and it does feel that it is a very Scottish story, and all credit to Amazon UK because they didn’t try and dilute it in any form.”

Co-star Mark Bonnar added, “It’s wonderful to see the blossoming of Scotland for this kind of thing. Especially as it’s a homegrown tale from a homegrown writer with a lot of homegrown casts. It’s fantastic, it’s really pleasurable to see that happening here.”
