When we talk about dangerous pasta, we often refer to the presence inside it of worms and parasites. They are often found inside packages of pasta and apart from being a somewhat horrifying experience, it can also be a real danger for all of us since we eat this pasta. Whether it’s worms, parasites, butterflies or more, it’s unfortunately not at all uncommon to find them in pasta that immediately becomes inedible and instantly discardable.

Worms and Parasites in Pasta: What to Check Immediately To avoid receiving such unpleasant surprises, it is necessary to carefully check all products before purchasing them. First of all, it is good to read the expiry date to avoid even buying products that are too close to the expiry date and therefore more at risk. In addition, for this type of food, it is advisable not to aim to make excessive stocks, but to buy them little by little.

How to store pasta? There are an infinite number of different species of insects that love our kitchen furniture and especially the cupboard where we store all our food reserves. For this reason, in order to properly preserve pasta but also any other food, it is necessary to keep pantries clean and fresh, ensuring that pasta is stored in glass containers, preferably airtight.

A good idea might also be to place natural insect repellents on all shelves. You can try, for example, with natural remedies like cloves, bay leaves or simple sachets of black pepper. In addition, it is good to know that one of the main triggers for the invasion of worms and parasites in pasta is the migration of other products, so it is absolutely not recommended to mix pasta with cereals, rice or legumes.

What to do in case of contaminated pasta? Fortunately, these animal pastes do not cause excessive concern for the good health of our organism, but it is certain that the products contaminated by parasites are no longer edible and can no longer be sold. Thus, in the event of the presence of worms in freshly purchased pasta, it is possible to report the contamination observed to the Control Authorities (ASL, Fraud Prevention, etc.). The experts, after carrying out all the necessary verifications, can not only sanction those responsible but also impose the withdrawal of all these products.
