Through his Instagram, director Rob Zombie confirmed that filming for the reboot of “The Monsters” has started.
Additionally, the filmmaker shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the production.
To verify:
The cast will star Jeff Daniel Phillips (Herman Munster), Sheri Moon Zombie (Lily Munster) and Daniel Roebuck (Grandpa Munster).
For those unfamiliar with it, the original series only had two seasons, aired between 1964 and 1966, totaling 70 episodes.
Enjoy watching:
The plot follows a typical working-class, middle-class family from the suburbs of major cities, despite the fact that the house they lived in resembles a Victorian-style Gothic mansion.
The head of the family is Herman, an employee of a funeral home, who has the classic Frankenstein monster look, very loud and somewhat slow and childish. He is married to the vampire Lily, who makes all the decisions at home. Like her, Grandpa is also a vampire and dresses like Count Dracula.
Their son’s name is Eddie, a werewolf kid still in high school. And then there is Marilyn, a very pretty teenager who is the couple’s niece, the only one of human appearance.
When she brought a suitor home (which was often the case), Herman’s appearance scared them away. He and Marilyn thought it was because she was “very ugly”.
In 1988, the show was renewed under the title ‘The Monster Family’ due to the change of studio.
Aired between 1988 and 1991, the new series had 72 episodes and showed the routine of the family after being asleep for 22 years due to an unsuccessful grandfather experience.
