“The Many Saints of Newark” (“The Many Saints of Newark”), a pre-sequel to the acclaimed “The Sopranos” series, is now available on HBO Max. programming.
The plot will take place in the 1960s, showing the struggle of African Americans against Italian families. While this has not been confirmed, the production is expected to feature younger versions of the characters featured in the series.
In the film, Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) plays Giovanni Francis “Johnny Boy” Soprano, father of crime boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), originally played by Joseph Siravo in six episodes of the HBO series.
Vera Farmiga (Summoning of Evil), originally performed by Nancy Marchand, plays Giovanni’s wife and Tony’s mother, Livia Soprano.

The cast also includes Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti, father of DiMeo family member Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli) – in the series “The Sopranos”, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Leslie Odom Jr., Joey Diaz and Ray Liotta.
