According to Variety, Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Loki”) and David Oyelowo (“Midnight Sky”) have been cast as the protagonists of the miniseries “The Girl Before”, produced by HBO Max in partnership with the BBC.
Through four episodes, the plot will follow the story of Jane (Mbatha-Raw), a woman who falls in love with a minimalist house and decides to settle there.
However, she will discover that the mysterious architect (Oyelowo) is behaving quite suspiciously, just like his past.
Over time, the girl’s life becomes more and more bizarre. Deciding to get rid of the anguish of the place, she discovers that the former resident of the house has been murdered.
The miniseries is based on the novel “Quem Era Ela” published by JP Delaney, who is also the creator of the adaptation.
In an interview with the portal, Delaney said that:
Enjoy watching:
“I had long dreamed of adapting ‘The Girl Before‘, but I was determined to do it only if I could find partners who would immerse themselves in the project, and I found these partners on the BBC and HBO Max.
He continued:
“With the talent of Gugu and David, we’re going to make a psychological thriller on TV that’s even more exciting than a movie. I am incredibly excited to tell this story in a visual way. It was also a lot of fun collaborating on episodes two and three with brilliant screenwriter Marissa Lestrad.
Directed by Lisa Brühlmann (“Killing Eve”), the adaptation is still unpublished.
