High tension and clashes between SDA couriers and police during a strike in Rome. The workers of the initials belonging to Poste Italiane were organizing a sit-in at the entrance to the central office in Rome, Eur district. The demonstration is called by the unions Filt Cgil, Ugl and Usb. Linked to the dismissal procedure initiated against 17 people in the Pomezia and Fiumicino branches. At the news that they would not be received by the management, the couriers first tried to form a procession and then to enter the headquarters of the Italian Post Office. The Base Union strongly denounced the incident. In an official note, the Usb writes that “the police intervened by beating the workers and trade unionists, pushing them out of the building. A courier, shot in the head, lost consciousness and fell down the steps at the entrance to the building. Same fate for another worker. “According to the Usb, the injured would therefore be two: “For both of them it was necessary to rescue 118.” Then the attack against the government: “A new government not yet formed is confirmed that the methods remain the same, in perfect continuity with the previous executives: the workers must be beaten mercilessly if they dare to raise their heads.”

This morning in Rome, about 200 SDA couriers had made an appointment in solidarity with colleagues from the Pomezia and Fiumicino offices. The clashes began when the couriers, learning that they would not be received by management, attempted a raid inside the post office.
