‘Smile 2’: Director talks about possible terror SEQUENCE

In an interview with ComicBook, director Parker Finn commented on the possibility of a “Smile” horror sequel, revealing details about what audiences can expect from a new movie.

“I developed the horror ‘Smile’ to be a standalone, standalone story. I didn’t think there would be so many people waiting for a sequel. That said, I believe there is has elements in the first movie that are deliberately unexplored, and it would be really fun to get a chance to delve into those. There are also things that I couldn’t do in the original movie that I couldn’t not do because of budget constraints or that didn’t fit the story.”

He continues: “I don’t just want to repeat the same thing, but I think there are interesting directions in the universe of ‘Smile’. I want to develop something unexpected for the public, with lots of twists.

With US$209.9 million collected worldwide, the horror “Smile” managed to surpass the box office total of “The Conjuring 3: The Order of the Demon” (US$206.4 million) , becoming the biggest hit of its kind since the start of the pandemic.

Additionally, the Paramount Pictures original feature has also already surpassed “Scream” ($140 million) and “The Black Telephone” ($159.5 million), winning the title of 2022’s Greatest Horror.

Review | “Smile” explores trauma with an ambitious and dissonant narrative

Parker Finn is responsible for directing and writing.

After witnessing a traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter begins to be haunted by supernatural occurrences she cannot explain. Soon, she must confront her troubled past in order to survive and escape her grim new reality.

The cast includes Sosie Bacon, Kyle Gallner, Rob Morgan, Jessie T. Usher and Caitlin Stasey.
