In an interview with GamesRadar, star Vin Diesel once again spoke about the cult sci-fi franchise “The Battle of Riddick”. The last time the actor commented on the saga was in mid-2019 to confirm that the script was ready.
Now Diesel suggests that ‘Riddick: Furya’, as the adventure’s fourth chapter became known, is ready to begin filming – as soon as he and director David Twohy have windows in their timeline.
“Twohy wrote a great script. It’s just a matter of when and when we get the opportunity to record. But I think we’re going to shoot in Australia. And that would be the fourth chapter in the franchise, which is amazing.
According to reports, the film will be the origin story of the eponymous character (played by Diesel), in addition to functioning as the first entry in the saga since 2013.
“Riddick 3”, the latest film in the franchise, cost $ 38 million and grossed $ 98 million worldwide.
Diesel had stated in 2015 that the fate of the original characters would be Furya, Riddick’s original planet, and the “Subverse” (Underverse), a mirror of the universe that was only mentioned in “The Battle of Riddick”.
“We have to go to the Subverse,” the actor said. “It’s normal, I firmly believe in it. You have to cross the Subverse to get to Furya. So these are the two stories that are traced. Subverso is a much more expensive business. We went in that direction, trying to make an R rated movie, which is cool and even more interesting because it’s so unexpected. But, yes, you will be in the Subverse and you will be in Furya, sooner or later.
