Legendary Soul Queen Aretha Franklin’s long-awaited biopic titled “Respect” has received a new official behind-the-scenes video.
In the featurette, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and director Liesl Tommy reveal details about the project and how they brought the life of the iconic Franklin to the big screen.

Previously scheduled for December of last year, the film will hit theaters on September 9, 2021.
Jennifer Hudson stars as the iconic performer. The cast also includes Kimberly Scott, Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley and Skye Dakota Turner.
In ‘Respect: The Story of Aretha Franklin’ we follow the entire career of muse Aretha Louise Franklin (Hudson), from her childhood, singing in church choirs, to her rise to the rank of musical icon, civil rights activist and women’s activist. Aretha was the first woman to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, winning 8 Grammy Awards.
The film is directed by Liesl Tommy (‘The Walking Dead’), from a screenplay written by Tracey Scott Wilson.
