Although ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’ only got 50% critical approval, the reboot’s cast is hoping for a sequel.

In an interview with Comic Book, Robbie Amell and Kaya Scodelario, interpreters of brothers Chris and Claire Redfield, commented on what they expect from a possible sequel.

“I would love to continue playing Chris. It was a dream come true for me,” Amell said. “What matters now is if the movie is going to perform well, if it does happen I think ‘a sequel could be launched. I know the story ends with a hook to another movie and [o diretor] and Johannes Roberts talked about “Code Veronica” and “Resident Evil 4” as possibilities that we could adapt. So who knows? “

Scodelario added that:

“It’s a discussion we can have once this film takes hold. From the start, our goal was to make the movie a success and find something interesting that we hadn’t seen in the previous ones. But, yes, you can’t deny the thrill of seeing this universe gain strength. We see that people would really love to have more, and I would love to continue as Claire Redfield. I think she still has a lot to do from now on.

Previously, Roberts had told Games Radar that he already had plans for the sequel.

In the plot of the remake, the Redfields attempt to uncover the plans of the pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation and find themselves facing a world about to be overrun by zombies, created by the company.

As the film draws inspiration from the franchise’s first two games, which focused on Redfields, Roberts said the sequel could center on Game 4 protagonist Leon Kennedy.

For those who do not know, the 4th title takes place six years after the 2nd and follows the story of Leon as he travels through rural Spain in search of the daughter of the American president, kidnapped by a mysterious sect.

“I’m obsessed with Game 4,” said Roberts. “I imagined it would become the plot of a new movie. There are a lot of interesting stories and little details that we brought to this movie, but it would be amazing to explore the franchise further as there are characters that we don’t use in this movie that we would like to bring into. the following.

He also said he is also planning adaptations based on ‘Resident Evil 7’ and Resident Evil Village ‘.

“Going forward, I plan to bring a different side to the franchise, like the one we see in ‘Resident Evil 7’ and ‘Village’, with much darker and more grotesque storylines.”

Recall that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be released in national theaters on December 2.
