Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson react to ‘Ghostbusters 3’ teaser
After the public failure of the female version of “The Ghostbusters”, several speculations have arisen regarding the possibility of a new production, within the original universe.
Filmmaker Jason Reitman has revealed that a direct sequel to the ’80s classic is in production, with a script and staging signed by him. “The next chapter is part of the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the 80s, happened in the 80s and this plot is unfolding today ”.
The main characters will be four teenagers, two boys and two girls. Details regarding the script are kept under wraps and it is not known, at this time, if any of the original protagonists will be in the sequence.
It should be noted that Jason Reitman is the son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the two original feature films, released in 1984 and 1989 respectively.
In addition to Reitman, the script is also signed by Gil Kenan.
