Release date of the new Netflix movie Let’s Steal the Duce

Arriving on the third day of the 17th edition of the Rome Film Festival, Rapiniamo il Duce will premiere in the Sinopoli room of the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The film directed by Renato De Maria is produced by Bibi Film. The release date of the feature film with Pietro Castellitto and Matilda De Angelis is October 26, the day of its release directly on the Netflix platform.

Rapiniamo il Duce sees an exceptional cast made up of young actors and veterans of Italian cinema. In addition to the protagonists Pietro Castellitto and Matilda De Angelis, we also find Tommaso Ragno, Isabella Ferrari, Alberto Astorri with Maccio Capatonda, Luigi Fedele, Coco Rebecca Edogamhe, Maurizio Lombardi, Lorenzo De Moor, Luca Lo Destro and Filippo Timi. The film tells the story of an impossible coup: stealing Benito Mussolini’s legendary treasure. We are indeed at the end of the Second World War when a band of wandering thieves, led by Isola (Pietro Castellitto), decides to carry out a crazy plan, practically a suicide. The Neflix heist movie is made up of a mix of real historical events and a bit of fiction. All this is accompanied by a lot of action and humor.

Synopsis of Rob le Duce

The film conceived and directed by Renato De Maria takes place in Milan during the last days of the Second World War, precisely in April 1945. The city, completely destroyed, is still plunged into total chaos. Pietro known as Isola, king of the black market and professional thief, in a bid to turn his life around, sets out to raise as much money as possible through the sale of contraband goods. A plan, his own, also aimed at protecting the woman he loves, Yvonne, the charming singer of a nightclub. The latter, in fact, is forced to be the lover of a ruthless fascist hierarch, Achille Borsalino.

In the meantime, however, a great opportunity presents itself. Indeed, Amedeo, a member of the Isola gang, deciphering a coded message intercepted by Marcello, another member of the gang, discovers where Mussolini hides his rich treasure while awaiting his escape to Switzerland. Hence the crazy idea of ​​robbing the Duce. An impossible undertaking since the loot is located in the black zone, the most guarded place in Italy.

The director explains the choice of tracks for the soundtrack: “a work on the era of the film and the contemporary”

A very interesting element was that of the choice by Renato De Maria of the pieces that accompanied the comedy. In this regard, the director declares: “starting from a play by Massimo Ranieri, I wanted to convey this message ‘take a seat, this is the film that we are going to show you'”.

As for the two songs sung by Matilda De Angelis during the film, she goes on to say: “they had already been thought of in the script. We worked on the era and on the contemporary by taking up a piece by Caterina Caselli, Tutto nero, which was in turn a cover of Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones. In my opinion, starting with Cabiria, a smoky place of Nazi and Fascist spies, with Matilda, the film’s female protagonist, singing a Rolling Stones song was a brilliant idea. Then there’s Amandoti which, on the other hand, is a song by CCCP, a punk band from the late 70s that I had the pleasure of meeting, because I made their first music video. It is a very beautiful piece of love chosen because it is also a love story”. He then reveals that both songs were live singers of De Angelis who, in addition to being an actress, is also a very good singer.
