First of all it should be known that the payment of this annual sum does not imply the balance of a subscription or a similar private service, but is in all respects a tax instituted by the state. The tax corresponds to public television and has existed for several years and is linked to the possession of a television. This means that if you don’t have a TV at home that can receive signals, you won’t have to pay these charges. The first subjects that will be exempt from payment will be these.
Despite this, the exemption is certainly not automatic because for the moment you have to submit a specific request to the Revenue Agency. From next year, anyone who owns more than one property will also be exempt, as far as additional televisions are concerned. This means that no matter how many properties you own, the payment will only ever be for one TV. The other subjects exempt from payment are all those who are over 75 and have an annual income of less than 8,000 euros.
Applying for a waiver is very simple and there are several ways to do it. In fact, the first solution is to go to the Revenue Agency web application. It will also be possible to request the exemption via PEC at cp22.sat@postacertificata.rai.it. Finally, it will also be possible to send the form and a copy of the identity document by registered mail to a Revenue Agency office. We remind you that the deadlines for presenting the derogation are limited, in fact it will be possible to request it until next January. Subsequently, the citizen will be obliged to pay the tax.
