“‘My Policeman’ is superficial gay representation, lacking in visual imagination and begging for better performance.” – RogerEbert.com.
“A work of relentless cliches that takes its mundane elements so seriously that it comes across as a limited parody.” – The daily beast.
“Do we really need another reminder that times were bad (and still are) for gay people? Do we need another obvious movie about the heartache of love? – IndieWire.
“The styles may look like the handsome movie star he’s aggressively shoved about with his matinee idol straight hair still in place, but he’s all built up and lacking in conviction, an entertainer as unsure of his abilities as we are.” – The Guardian.
“‘My Policeman’ is a respectful drama, and somewhat quite watchable, but incapable of creating an emotional charge around its exploration of the mysterious lines of love and friendship.” – The Hollywood journalist.
“’My policeman’ tries to make sense of things, but it rarely comes to life. Perfectly watchable and it has its merits, but it ends up being a bit forgettable because it can’t get past the stereotypical narrative. – Awards Watch.
