Great victories in Formula 1 and Moto GP on Sunday 23 October. Bagnaia is first at Sepang, while with Max Verstappen’s triumph at the Formula 1 American Grand Prix, Red Bull also wins the Constructors’ World Championship.
If we had to give a name to the Sunday on the engines which has just passed, we could call it “young talents”. Francesco Bagnaia was the protagonist of a spectacular victory at Sepang and the same can be said of Max Verstappen who in the United States takes his 13th victory of the season in Formula 1, equaling the record of Schumacher and Vettel.

These are two very important victories for the Piedmontese pilot and the Dutch pilot. The top step of the podium for ‘Pecco’ in Malaysia is in fact another step towards winning the 2022 World Cup. Verstappen’s triumph in America, just after winning the drivers’ title, is the decisive step award Red Bull the 2022 Constructors’ World Championship Champions Trophy.
Because Bagnaia deserves the World Cup
To make these two races more exciting is the fact that the two pilots, protagonists of the super podiums, are two young talents, but their age does not compromise their performance on the track. ‘Pecco’ has won everything in this World Cup and deserves to win it. In Valencia, he will only have to take two points from Fabio Quartararo and he will be Champion, but he is certain that nothing has been given to him. And Francesco Bagnaia proved it in every race. In Sepang, after the difficulties of Friday and Saturday, he got up in style and starting from 9th position he made a spectacular comeback that made him the protagonist of the victory. Being able to sing the national anthem adopted during the 2022 World Champions Trophy will be a great emotion, but despite the excellent conditions, it is fair to wait. After all, the adversaries are worthy of being called that.

Fabio Quartararo, in fact, responded to Bagnaia’s victory in Malaysia with a podium finish in third place. A great comeback from the Yamaha rider, starting from 12th position, which establishes him as a great protagonist of Moto GP. And another praise deserves the other tricolor pilot Enea Bastianini, who finished second on the podium. Protagonist of great common sense, the Gresini Racing driver attacked his future teammate in the central phase of the race, then “lowered the blow” in the final stages. For his part, Bastianini is playing for third place in the Drivers’ World Championship and his performances only confirm the most positive prospects for next season. As Sky Sport writes, 2023 will see “two roosters in the same coop”, but it’s not necessarily the case that the two have to go to war. In the meantime, we think of 2022 and Valencia, where Bagnaia could finally win the title he deserved.
From Moto GP to Formula 1
And if Bagnaia is a big protagonist in Malaysia, the same can be said of Max Verstappen in America. A race at the limit of adrenaline from the first laps of the track. At the start, in fact, the Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was forced to retire, after starting from pole position, due to contact at the first corner with Russell. Max Verstappen, after a meteoric comeback due to an error in the pits, overtakes Lewis Hamilton, not allowing him to obtain his first victory of the season. But the Dutchman is thinking about his record; in fact, with the first step of the podium in the United States reached the season record of 13 wins, like Schumacher and Vettel. On the podium also Charles Leclerc, who closes with a commendable third place.

But Verstappen’s victory in America gives the constructors’ world championship title to his team: Red Bull. The Dutch driver wanted to dedicate his success to the late owner and founder of the Austrian F1 brand and team Dietrich Mateschitz. He died Saturday at the age of 78 following a serious illness. As you can read on the Fanpage, the Red Bulla driver confessed: “Of course it was a very difficult weekend for us. So everything is dedicated to Dietrich, for what he did for everyone. The only thing we could do today was win for him. And even though we weren’t in good shape after the pit stop, I gave it my all and pushed hard to get back in the lead. This victory definitely means a lot to me, I owe it to Dietrich who was so decisive in my life and my career”.
