Synopsis:

Set in the 1970s, the plot of “Minions 2” shows the beginning of everything, with Gru as a child and before he became a supervillain. As they unsuccessfully attempt to become part of the world’s most notorious clan of villains – the “Wicked Six” – Gru and his loyal minions embark on a risky mission to steal a gemstone. In a ruckus, Otto trades the gemstone for a pet pebble.

‘Minions’ is a spin-off of ‘Despicable Me.

The commercial phenomenon “Minions”, derived from “Despicable Me”, has already grossed an incredible sum of 1.14 billion dollars and has become the second largest animated film in history, ahead of “Toy Story 3”. ($1.06 billion) and behind “Frozen: A Freezing.” Adventure’ ($1.27 billion).

While Universal Pictures hasn’t officially confirmed the sequel (which is sure to happen), news about the project is leaking online. In an interview with Shuttle, host and producer Chris Renaud revealed who he’d like to see the ‘Minions 2’ villain. “Personally, I think it’s fun to play against archetypes. If you take a nice guy like Chris Pratt and cast him as a bad guy, that’s always an interesting idea.”

In Brazil, the “Minions” have raised more than R$100 million. It is the first and only animation to reach this income in Brazilian territory, becoming the fifth highest grossing in the country, behind “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, “Fast and Furious 7”, “The Avengers” and “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′.
