According to Deadline, a Medusa horror film based on the popular Greek legend is in development.
Anna Chazelle (‘Narrow’) will be responsible for directing, scripting and executive production on the project.
“It’s easy to demonize Medusa, but her history is filled with righteous hatred, both towards the gods who created her and towards the mortals who want to destroy her,” Chazelle told the website. “I am very excited to delve into the story of his birth in the Greek pantheon and hopefully challenge the widely accepted definition of Medusa as a mere monster.”
In Greek mythology, Medusa was a cursed monster with the power to turn anyone who looked directly at her to stone.
Tara Ansley, Armen Aghaeian and Abhi Goel will produce through Fangoria Studios, and Phil Wurtzel will be executive producer of Friel Films.
The character was one of the antagonists of the 2010 epic “Clash of the Titans”.
