‘Made-up news travels faster than truth’, ‘Black Panther’ director opens up about controversy involving Letitia Wright

In an EXCLUSIVE interview with CinePOP, director Ryan Coogler addressed rumors regarding actress Letitia Wright’s name and anti-vax stance on the set of “Black Panther – Wakanda Forever.”

“As a family, we tried to block it out so we could work. Like I said, we focus on what we can control. You know, the sad reality in this world is that people gossip and sometimes bad news travels faster than good news. And sometimes invented news travels faster than the truth. And most of the time people want to take the lowest common denominator, maybe a mistake or something that’s been misunderstood, and they want to use that as an example, like it’s the most important thing in somebody.”

The Hollywood Reporter reported that actress Letitia Wright continued to spread anti-vaccine ideals on the set of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” even after she apologized for posting a video against mass vaccination l ‘last year.

In a move similar to the backlash from Warner Bros. Discovering Ezra Miller’s many controversies, Disney decided not to address the subject directly and the matter seemed to end after Wright deleted his Twitter account.

On “The Town with Matt Belloni” podcast, Deadline reporter Justin Knoll confirmed “absolutely disturbed by some of the things [que Letitia Wright fez]especially his anti-vax comments.

Additionally, the way Wright returned to the UK during production raised “questions as to whether she could return” due to her ambiguous vaccination status and how the incident was “a pain” for Marvel Studios.

Kroll explained that in Hollywood there are a lot of actors “who aren’t vaccinated who have chosen not to,” but clarifies that, unlike Wright, they’ve “kept quiet about it.” But, Knoll claimed that “once she started talking, you didn’t hear her name. [papeis]🇧🇷

In this industry, “you can be crazy and silly and still get proposed”, but when you go public and turn off the public, “that’s when the studio executives get suspicious of you”.

“When you miss meetings, it doesn’t help your trajectory,” he concluded.

The Shuri interpreter denied the charges and defended herself via Instagram, saying she was being pursued by the media.

In the post, she shared an excerpt from the Bible passage from Isaiah 54:17, which reads:

“Any tool prepared against you will not prosper, and every word spoken against you will have no effect.”

In the caption, she fanned herself saying:

“God bless you all. It saddens me to have to address the reports published by The Hollywood Reporter on October 6, 2021. The report was about my conduct on the set of ‘Black Panther 2’. I can honestly say it was completely wrong. Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows that I work very hard at my craft and that my primary goal is always to do impactful and inspiring work. That has been and will continue to be my sole focus. I will continue to cling to the hand of God and the scripture of Isaiah 54:17. I continue to focus on my healing. Thank you for your prayers. And I continue to pray for the love, peace and joy of God for you all. God bless them. Letitia.

For those who don’t remember, the actress apologized last year after posting a video of speaker Tomi Arayomi, a senior leader of Light Church London, questioning COVID-19 vaccines.
