Liniker becomes the first Brazilian trans artist to win the Latin Grammy

The winners of the 2022 Latin Grammys were announced last night, November 17 – and iconic singer-songwriter Liniker made history by bringing home one of the golden gramophones.

Liniker received the award for the best MPB album in the Portuguese language for the famous “Índigo Borboleta Anil”, released last year. With this victory, she became the first trans artist to win one of the statuettes.

Liniker began his musical career in 2015, when he founded the band Liniker and the Caramelows. In 2021, he made his solo debut with the aforementioned album, which entered our Best of the Year list and won our National Album of the Year award.
