It took years for Dreamworks to announce the sequel to “Puss in Boots,” but that has changed today.
The studio has confirmed the start of production of “ Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish ” and has scheduled the premiere for September 23, 2022.
The sequel will be directed by Joel Crawford and produced by Mark Swift, who previously worked on DreamWorks’ recent hit, “The Croods 2.”
No other information was released.
Antonio Banderas suggested in 2014 that the sequel could count on the appearance of the ogre Shrek.
“I’ve heard rumors that Shrek may be coming back,” the actor told Empire. “That would be great. Shrek makes an appearance… in MY movie? Uh, huh! I would love that,” he added.
When asked about the progress of this second film in the ‘Shrek’ spinoff series, Banderas only replied that “they are restructuring the script now”.
A new chapter in the history of “Shrek” is also set to hit theaters in the coming years.
