JK Rowling Reveals She ‘DID NOT’ Want To Be In ‘Harry Potter’ 20th Anniversary Special

“Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts,” a special celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” hitting theaters, arrived in the HBO Max catalog earlier this year — and, although reuniting the main cast of the film franchise, didn’t bring the original books’ controversial author, JK Rowling, to the small screen.

Now, during an appearance on Virgin Radio UK, hosted by Graham Norton, she has revealed why she was absent from the reunion, saying it just wasn’t something she wanted to do (via Deadline).

“I was asked if I wanted to participate and decided I didn’t want to,” she said. “I thought it was more about the movies than the books, which made sense, that’s what the anniversary was about.”

She continues: “No one told me to [não fazer]… I was asked if I wanted to and I decided not to”.

Earlier, Watson got emotional talking about the production for the first time.

“Harry Potter was my home, my family, my world and Hermione (still) my favorite fictional character of all time. I think a journalist once said that it was boring to see how many times during from an interview I mentioned how lucky I was and started counting…BUT I KNEW IT!!!And I still know Thanks to the fans who continued to show their support after the last movie.The magic of the world n wouldn’t exist without you. Thank you for striving to make it such an inclusive and loving place.
