Amazon Prime has officially canceled the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series reboot of the 1997 slasher after just one season.
Despite the nostalgia, the production failed to win over audiences and critics, who only gave the production 41% and 40% approval in the Rotten Tomatoes, respectively.
The general consensus is that this bloodless slasher fails to build an engaging narrative, stumbling over script holes and unsatisfying twists.

Written and produced by Sara Goodman, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is based on the 1973 Lois Duncan novel, which also served as the basis for the iconic 1997 film.
A year after the fatal car crash that haunted graduation night, a group of teenagers find themselves bound by a dark secret and pursued by a brutal killer. As they attempt to find out who’s after them, they reveal the dark side of their seemingly perfect city – and themselves. Everyone is hiding something and finding the wrong secret can be fatal.
Remember that Madison Iseman (‘Jumanji: Next Phase’) will play the main character. The cast also includes Brianne Tju (‘Light as a Feather’), Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore (‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’), Sebastian Amoruso (‘Solve’), Fiona Rene (‘Stumptown’), Cassie Beck ( “Connecting”), Brooke Bloom (“Homecoming“) and Bill Heck (“I am your wife”).
The original film grossed $ 125 million worldwide and won a 1998 sequel, “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer”. A third film, “I would always know what you did last summer,” was released direct on video in 2006.
